The competition
A franchise T20 league run by the BCB

The Bangladesh Premier League is the country's franchise Twenty20 competition, organised by the Bangladesh Cricket Board and first played in 2012. Franchises are city-based, squads mix Bangladeshi players with a capped number of overseas signings, and the season runs as a short, dense window — typically a double round-robin group stage followed by playoffs and a final, rather than a long home-and-away calendar.

Because the window is compressed, form swings matter more than season-long averages. A side can lose three in a row and still make the playoffs; a player who strikes at 150 across two games will move up fantasy pricing faster than in a longer league. That is the analytical reason we surface recent-form charts before career aggregates.

Conditions
Venues shape BPL scoring

Most BPL cricket is played at a small set of grounds — Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, and Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. They do not behave alike. Mirpur has a long reputation for slower, lower-scoring surfaces where spin and pace-off bowling control the middle overs. Chattogram and Sylhet historically play flatter, and totals there tend to sit higher.

Practically: judge a BPL innings against its venue, not against a league-wide par score. The same 150 can be a winning total in Mirpur and a losing one in Chattogram, which is why our venue and matchup views exist separately from raw batting averages.
